Trends Spring-Summer 2013.

MONOCHROME CHECKS
Black-and-white checks are big news this season, and the bigger and bolder the motif, the better.

BOMBER JACKETS
An easy way to streamline your spring/summer '13 look towards the luxe sport trend? Throw a bomber jacket over the top.

OVERSIZED WHITE SHIRTS
Make friends with a crisp white shirt this season; and don't forget the starch to keep that oversized tailoring sharp.

LADYLIKE HANDBAGS
Let your feminine side shine this spring - or at least let your purse sit in a chic tote.

ORIENTAL
Look to the East for Japanese silhouettes and oriental blossoms that creep up kimonos and other silky loungewear.

WHITE TUXEDO JACKETS
Masculine meets feminine with the introduction of the white tuxedo jacket on spring 2013 's fashion scene. Look for long lapels and strong shoulders.

STRIPED SKINNY TROUSERS
Strong lines are hot property for spring. Lengthen yours by putting them on skinny trousers, and pairing them with an equally sharp line up top.

SPLIT FRONT SKIRTS
Without slipping into Angelina Jolie side split territory S/S '13 is all about flashing a bit of leg.

LOW-HEELED SHOES
Low-heeled pointy shoes to match your ladylike bag makes for a one-way ticket to spring chic.

FRILLY DRESSES
Forget small ruffles, spring is all about the statement frill. Think flamenco, but in this season's color palette.

Book Reference for those who are learning the art of sewing.

One of my favorite book to get you start on sewing was first published in 1976, Digest's Reader's  Complete Guide To Sewing. Is a very good reference for beginners and occasional sewers. Its comprehensive step-by-step instruction techniques of sewing and tailoring.
The new version has 20 projects for making clothes and home accessories. These projects are classic in cut and can be adapted on today's trends.
Is an ideal book for sewers' personal library
